Indiana Small Business Development Center
Northwest Indiana business-owners can obtain FREE
advice from the region's top advisors. Whatever
our question, whatever your problem, you can find
thoughtful, often innovative answers through the
Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and its
database of professionals. Skeptical of
"something for nothing" offers? Of
course you are. So let us explain. The SBDC is
the product of a unique partnership between the
Northwest Indiana Forum-a powerful economic
development organization-and the U.S. Small
Business Administration. Its mission is to
create-or keep-jobs in Northwest Indiana.
Big-Name Consultants Volunteer Their Services
to the SBDC
Do you feel your business could be doing better
in some way? The SBDC's seasoned, full-time staff
of business professionals can probably answer you
questions. If not, they can connect you with
someone who can. Most of the SBDC's services are
delivered at no cost whatsoever
and our
outside volunteers will provide at least their
initial assistance for free, too. Often, the
entire problem can be solved without costing you
a single penny!
"Small" May Be Bigger Than You Think
Your business may qualify for SBA-supported
assistance even if it's surprisingly large. For
example, some businesses can have as many as 500
employees and still qualify for our help.
We Do Not Lend Money
But We Can Help You
Find It
Is money your problem? Whether you need more of
it, or just need a more effective way to allocate
what you have, we can probably play a key role.
We'll help you prepare the material needed by
bankers, investors, or other financial resources.
We know what they're looking for, and we can
usually tell you what it will take to get your
funding. Sometimes we can direct you into special
financing programs offered by the SBA, state or
local governments, and other entities. In other
cases, you may only need a little help with your
runaway cash flow. Bring us into the picture as
early as you can, though; don't wait till the
last minute.
Seminars for People in a Hurry
We offer seminars on a wide-ranging array of
practical business topics, from startup through
business-plan writing, marketing, financial
management, record keeping and even legal or
human-resource issues. Sometimes on of these
brief seminars will tell you all you need to know
at the moment. Call for a calendar of upcoming
seminars. There's usually a small fee for
attendance, but most of the thousands of people
who have attended our seminars tell us they got
much more than their money's worth.
One-On-One Counseling
If you need ongoing assistance, our full-time
counselors can work with you on a continuing
basis until you are over the current
obstacles
and then you can return later, if
you have more questions. Each year, we perform
this personal, confidential counseling for some
500 different business-owners or prospective
business-owners.
