Get the most out of your membership in the Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce by getting involved in committee service.  Please review the Committees below and sign up for the group(s) that best fit your particular areas of interest.

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES DIVISION
Jay Williams, Vice-Chairman

EVENTS PLANNING TASK FORCES
The Annual Meeting Task Force, the Play Day and Crazy 8's Golf Outing Task Force and the Business EXPO Task Force meet individually to plan and promote these membership events. 

AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE
Members serve as the welcoming arm of the Chamber at membership events, participate in ribbon cutting ceremonies and deliver new member packets.  John C. Hargrave “Ambassador of the Year“ awarded at annual meeting.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Committee volunteers solicit new members and actively seek to strengthen membership participation in networking events. Small commission offered on new member sales.

 

GOVERNMENT & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
Ed Volk, Vice-Chairman

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Encourage local elected officials to expand and improve the area's road, water and sewer infrastructure; identify needed improvements and assist developers in creating fully-served business-industrial parks. Educate member-ship on the development of local, state and federal legislation.  Lobby elected officials for pro-business legislation and conduct candidate forums. 

EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Host the New Teachers Welcome Luncheon.  Monitor legislative issues affecting education.  Develop and promote business/education partnerships, school-to-work initiatives and school mentor-ship programs.

 

RETENTION & EXPANSION DIVISION
Ron Gigliotti, Vice-Chairman

Retention & Expansion Committee
Members contact and visit existing industries to monitor the business climate of the LaPorte area and encourage and assist with expansion plans.  Members develop strategies to address distressed businesses.

 

 

Committees are open to Chamber members and usually meet from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00a.m. monthly.
